Feature request: processing depending on age 2 Months, 1 Week ago
Hello!
My small problem: My users don't give articles a expiration date. This is a training issue, I know, but it is unlikely that this will change within the next year ... and if some of them manage to get it, I still have a lot of others who "forget" to give their articles such a date.
I found a plugin which does autoarchiving depending on the age of an article, regardless if there is an expiration date. But many functions are missing there, so I would not want to change to it. Something is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.
My question: Is it possible to have a a similar functionality in AutoArchive2 too? Maybe the Admin can choose I he wants to look for the expiration date of an article or just for its age.

Thanks anyway for this handy plugin!

Interesting idea. Had not occurred to me. I am eventually going to have to do some re-writing to make this plugin work in Joomla 1.6. I will certainly consider your idea.

Dave

A site I am working on will have a number of authors publishing many 'latest news' features. As the articles age beyond a certain point I want to move them to a 'news archive' category.

I thought the plug-in Parameters feature '+No of days before article expiration' would do exactly this but it appears to determine how long the article remains published AFTER being republished in the 'news archive' category (I want to leave them published indefinitely in the archive... so should I leave this field blank?)

If this is not a feature yet then, likewise, I won't be able to rely on minimally trained editors to remember to publish an expiry date x days ahead of the publishing date on an article they publish.

It would be a great feature that would solve the problem outright! Hope you can do this....

Sorry for the delay in replying as I have been out of town (still am as a matter of fact) with limited internet access.

This is not a current feature of AutoArcchive2 and maybe something I consider adding when I update it for Joomla 1.6.

Dave
